Franklin Delano Roosevelt Mint Set of 4 Stamps United States, 1945

This set of four mint stamps, issued by the United States in 1945, paid tribute to President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who died on April 12, 1945. FDR was the only President for whom the "no third term" tradition was set aside- he was elected to the presidency four times. He was an ardent stamp collector for 56 years and did much to advance the popularity of the hobby. "I owe my life to my hobbies, especially stamp collecting," FDR said. Each stamp measures 26mm x 40mm. The above image is a 150% enlargement.
