Identical to the general 1970 contemporary Christmas stamps except that this mint set of four stamps was precancelled for use on bulk mailings. The precancelled stamps were furnished to 68 cities and are more scarce than the non-precancelled stamps. The issuance of precancelled stamps to the general public was an experimental program aimed at reducing workload (they would not need to be additionally canceled) during the busy holiday season. The block of four stamps measures 51mm x 80mm (possibly attached selvage is not included in the measurement); the above image is an enlargement.
