To raise awareness of the need to adopt shelter pets, the United States Postal Service issued this complete mint pane of 20 self-adhesive "Animal Rescue: Adopt a Shelter Pet" stamps. This sheet, issued on April 30, 2010, includes two copies each of ten different stamps. According to the USPS, the cats and dogs depicted on the stamps all had been homeless at one time; all but one had been adopted when they were photographed.

The actual size of this sheet is 149 x 149 mm (5.87" x 5.87").
